COMMITTED TO SUSTAINABILITY SINCE 1943
RE-PURPOSE
Trim waste is used as hog fuel at local paper mills.
ECO BIND RESIN TECHNOLOGY
Using a phenolic resin in the manufacturing process, Skatelite achieves unsurpassed quality in the finished product and minimizes energy consumption, with no added urea formaldehyde. In addition to reduced energy consumption, the phenolic resin has earned the EcoBind designation, indicating it is one of the lowest VOC emitters on the market.
CARBON FOOTPRINT
Skatelite began tracking emissions in 2005 using the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, developed through a partnership between the World Resources Institute and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. Skatelite set a five-year goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 30%. By 2010, Skatelite exceeded that objective with a total 32% decrease in CO2 emissions.
WE™ Technology
Up to 84% of Skatelite's electricity grid mix comes from hydropower. Closed-loop water tanks are used to cool the saturators. According to the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan, and specifically Skatelite's stormwater permit, no outflow of domestic water is contributed to storm drains, only rainwater.
FSC® CERTIFIED
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification ensures that products come from well-managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.
