The Retreat – Lopez Island knows how to party!
An estimated 3,000 people showed up on August 17th for the dedication of the new Lopez Island skatepark and for the first annual Retreat! A week long vacation for legendary skateboard and BMX pros built up to a full day event featuring a ribbon cutting and dedication of the new park donated by Skatelite, a jam session on the new park and demo on the official Xgames vert ramp.
Athletes in attendance were Bob Burnquist, Bucky Lasek, Pierre-Luc Gagnon, Paul Rodriguez, Lincoln Ueda, Manny Santiago, Jett and Jagger Eaton, Mat Hoffman, Ryan Nyquist, Dennis McCoy, Chad Kagy, Zack Warden, Simon Tabron, Steve McCann, Elliot Sloan, Chet Thomas, Greg Lutzka, and Adam Dyet.
A big thank you to all of our friends who came out to say hi to the islanders… Bern, Outdoor Tech, evo, All Together Skatepark, Darkstar, Enjoi, Twig, Grow Anthology, Nautique, GoPro, Rhino Gear, Transworld Skateboarding and Ride BMX, Dakine, Coal, Nike, ResQ Water… and to California Rampworks for transporting the ramps and putting it all together!
